About Janssen Carpentry & Repair

Picture

Janssen Carpentry opened for business in the summer of 2006 and was founded on three basic business principals.

1. Listen, learn and respond with good advice and options about the project.

2. Provide value and quality for the investment.

3. Communicate with the client.

Janssen Carpentry is preparing for handling projects that fall under the EPA’s Remodel Right Program, and we should be available to provide this service in the near future.

While Janssen Carpentry does not offer design services, we will work with the client and or the client’s designer to bring the project to life.

About Jim Janssen, CR, Owner

My grandfather, Rudy Miller, an accomplished journeyman carpenter, gave me my first experiences in carpentry in my early teens. I was his helper remodeling his cabin in West Virginia.

In 1984, after a short, unfulfilling stint in the food service management industry, I went to work for a restoration company that provided a comprehensive experience on the various parts of a house and how to take it apart and put it back together.

In 1988, I joined Case Design Remodeling as a carpenter’s helper to take my skills to higher levels. In the 17+ years with Case, I spent valuable time in the field and the office. I gained valuable skills in the field through building additions, remodeling kitchens and bathrooms, site building book shelves and finishing basements. In the office, I coordinated and managed projects and carpenters, helped develop systems, estimated projects and trained new employees and franchise partners.

After a short stint as the production manager with another design/build firm, the next step was to take what I learned and put it to practical use through opening my own carpentry company.

The “CR” after my name represents the National Association of the Remodeling Industry’s Certified Remodeler designation that was obtained in 2003 (finished in the top 4 of the group of 21).

In 2006, I proctored NARI’s Certified Lead Carpenter course and am proud that all six of my students passed their exams.

Recently, I became a “EPA CR”, passing the course in dealing with the EPA’s Remodel Right Program (RRP) when remodeling homes built before 1978.
